Single-prompt tracking sees one answer. A Thread sees the whole conversation, so it shows where a brand drops out and who takes its place.

The AI visibility category went from zero to crowded in about two years. Every serious SEO platform shipped an AI tracking module, and a wave of specialists appeared alongside them. Choosing is genuinely hard, because the tools measure different things.

Full disclosure: we build Vouch, so we are biased. We will be specific about where each tool fits, including the cases where Vouch is the wrong choice.

What to evaluate before any demo

Engine coverage. Which assistants are tracked: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode? Your buyers use several, and the assistants disagree with each other.

What is actually measured. Mention counting in single answers is the baseline. Deeper tools track citations, sentiment, the sources behind answers, and whether the conversation still recommends you after follow-up questions.

Data method. Answers pulled through APIs can differ from what a signed-in user sees in the app. Ask each vendor how they collect answers; a good one will tell you plainly.

Cadence and variance handling. AI answers change run to run. Daily tracking with weekly aggregation is the minimum for a trustworthy trend.

Fit for your team. Prompt limits, countries, seats, exports, and whether pricing works at your scale.

The landscape in 2026

Profound. The enterprise leader on data depth: broad engine coverage, citation intelligence, large research indices, SOC 2. Pricing is enterprise-shaped and largely sales-led rather than cheap self-serve. Best for dedicated GEO programs with real budgets.

Peec AI. A strong mid-market tracker, popular with agencies for multi-client setups. Published self-serve tiers aimed at smaller budgets. Good coverage of the major chat assistants with clean reporting.

Otterly.AI. One of the earliest budget-friendly monitoring tools. Covers the main assistants with prompt tracking and weekly digests. A sensible first step into the category for small teams.

AthenaHQ. Broader "AI search" platform ambitions, with a free entry point and content features alongside tracking. Worth a look if you want monitoring and optimization workflows in one place.

Scrunch AI. Positions around the full AI customer journey, with crawler analytics and an agent-facing site layer alongside monitoring. Fits teams thinking about AI agents, not just AI answers.

Ahrefs Brand Radar and Semrush's AI toolkit. If your team already lives in one of these suites, their AI visibility modules add share-of-voice style tracking inside a tool you have. Convenient, though the specialists tend to go deeper on the answers themselves.

Vouch (us). We track seven assistants: Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode and Copilot. The difference is what we measure. Instead of stopping at the first answer, Vouch follows the whole buying conversation: six questions from discovery to decision, recording where your brand is named, where it drops out, and what to publish to win that stage back. Plans start at $39 a month.

Where Vouch is the wrong choice: if you need SOC 2 procurement boxes, a 10-engine enterprise index, or an all-in-one SEO suite, buy Profound or extend Ahrefs. If your core question is "does the AI actually recommend us when the buyer keeps asking," that is the question Vouch exists to answer.

Tool Best for Stands out for
Vouch Brands that want conversation-stage tracking Six-question Threads, drop-out stage, fix guidance; from $39/mo
Profound Enterprise GEO programs Data depth, citation intelligence
Peec AI Agencies, multi-client Client reporting, coverage
Otterly.AI Small teams starting out Simple prompt monitoring
AthenaHQ Monitoring plus content workflows Free entry point
Scrunch AI Agent-journey thinking Crawler analytics
Ahrefs / Semrush Teams already subscribed Share of voice in-suite

Pricing changes often in this category; check each vendor's current page before budgeting. Only Vouch's price is listed because we can stand behind it.

How to choose

Pick the tool that matches your actual question. If it is "are we mentioned," almost any tracker works. If it is "what do we tell the board," enterprise depth helps. If it is "where in the buying conversation do we lose, and what do we publish next," that is the problem we built Vouch to solve. For one-to-one comparisons with prices checked on each vendor's site, see Vouch's comparison pages.

Vouch is invite-only for now, and every invitation starts with a 14-day free trial: join the waitlist.
