Vouch for SEO teams: AI answers, followed past the first one
How SEO teams use Vouch to track AI answers next to search: share of voice, position, citations, and the follow-up question where buyers stop hearing about you.

The problem
You know how to track rankings, but AI answers do not come with a position report. The assistant names three or four brands, cites a handful of pages, and the answer changes from one day to the next. Leadership wants to know whether the work is moving the numbers in ChatGPT and Google's AI features as well as in the blue links.
And the first answer is only the start. A buyer asks follow-ups, and each one can pull in different sources: review sites for trust, comparison pages for value. If you only measure the first answer, you cannot see which pages, yours or someone else's, decide the sale.
How Threads answer it
Vouch tracks single answers every day: share of voice, average position and own-citation share for each prompt, assistant and country. On top of that, a Thread asks an assistant six questions in order (Discovery, Shortlist, Objection, Trust, Value, Decision) and records where your brand stops being named.
The stage where you drop out, the killer question that did it, the rival named instead and the sources cited at that moment turn into a content brief: the page you need to publish, or the third-party source you need to be on. The methodology sets out how answers are collected and scored. For the wider picture, read GEO vs SEO vs AEO and how Perplexity chooses sources.
Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode are tracked as single answers each day, next to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot (see the methodology for how each is collected), so you can compare assistants for the same prompt and country.
With Vouch and without
| Without Vouch | With Vouch |
|---|---|
| Manual checks of a few prompts | Daily answers for every tracked prompt, assistant and country |
| No position for AI answers | Average position and share of voice against named rivals |
| Guessing which pages assistants read | Own-citation share and the sources cited where you drop out |
| Only the first answer | Six-stage Threads that show where the brand drops out |
| A crawler audit by hand | The free AI crawler checker for robots.txt and llms.txt |
Start in three steps
- Add the brand and the rivals you compete with in search.
- Add the prompts buyers ask: the conversational versions of your money keywords.
- Read the first Threads and note the stage, the rival and the cited sources where you drop out.
Definitions of every metric are in the glossary.
Common questions
How is this different from rank tracking?
A rank tracker shows where a page sits in a list of links. Vouch reads AI answers: whether your brand is named, its average position among the brands named, its share of voice against rivals and how often your own site is cited. Threads then follow the conversation past the first answer.
Does Vouch track Google AI Overviews and AI Mode?
Yes. Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode are tracked daily on every plan, as single answers. Threads, the six-question conversations, run on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity.
Can I see which pages the assistants cite?
Yes. Vouch records the sources cited in answers, shows your own-citation share, and lists the sources cited at the stage where your brand is dropped in a Thread.
Does Vouch check whether AI crawlers can read my site?
The free AI crawler checker reads your robots.txt, llms.txt and home page and shows which AI crawlers are allowed. It is separate from tracking and needs no account.
